This is new section on my website, a place where you can submit your pictures and proudly show off your jewelry designs to the world. Everyone is invited to join in and show off their creativity!
Is your website or blog getting the kind of traffic you were hoping for?
I constantly get questions asking how do I get more traffic to my site? How do I get people to find my site? How do I get ranked in the first few pages of Google results?
Here is a question I received the other day from Andy who also cannot understand why his site is not getting the kind of traffic he was hoping for and is not getting ranked in the first few pages of Google Results.
So if you are having the same problems then please read my answer to him:
My website is not coming up on the first few Google pages. I am getting hits but only a few (3-6) per day
I have registered with Google and it has crawled my site but still no significant business.
We make nice stuff (I think) and people who do see our stuff like it.
Perhaps my keywords are not the best?
ANSWER:"the home of elegance, on-line Jewelry, "
I just checked your site's page source and these are the keywords your are using for your site:
If I am surfing the internet looking for handcrafted jewelry it would NEVER occur to me to type in “the home of elegance” and I am pretty sure that no one else will either. Even if people did know that your website existed they would probably type in “everydayelegance.org” to find you.
Choosing the right keywords for a website involves understanding the search habits of the general public. When building a website around a certain topic, it is important to consider how people would search for information about the topic.

Just having the right keyword alone will not drive traffic to your site as you will be competing against 1000’s of other handcrafted jewelry sites to get noticed and ranked in the first few pages of Google results.
When someone types in a keyword or search term in Google’s search box, Google searches the entire web (consisting of over 100 million websites) to find the best sites for that keyword, and then ranks them accordingly in the search results.
How do you get the search engine to list your website in the first 10 to 30 results? The answer is simple: CONTENT. The more content or information you provide about a particular topic the better your site will be ranked in the first 10 to 30 search engine results.

Link Building is the process of creating inbound links to ones own website. This can be done by reciprocal links, being listed in e-zines, newsletters, directories, search engines, etc. Link building is one of the best ways to make your site popular. There are few types of linking one of which is reciprocal links.
Reciprocal links or link exchanges is the process where two webmasters agree to show the other's link on their website. Remember though that you need links from sites that are relevant to yours and/or in your niche.
There are many advantages of link building.
1. Link building helps in getting quality traffic from relevant sites which increases sales.
2. Also when there will be high quality incoming links the site will also be seen as a valuable resource.
3. Link building helps in creating awareness, visibility and credibility of your site.

As well as “link exchanges” you can also get links to your site through Social Media Networking.
Social Media Networking involves using social websites for promoting your business online to achieve branding and marketing communication goals through the participation in various social media networks.
With social media networking you can easily gain the attention of targeted groups of people who are very interested in handmade jewelry. Social sites have an unprecedented power to attract people's attention and influence their buying decisions. Already the main thing the majority of Internet users do now when they get on the Web is to participate in social websites in some way - and the overall traffic volume to social websites currently doubles every six months.
Studies show that people who use social networking sites also tend to be very active online shoppers - and that they buy more than twice as many jewelry items online as non-social-site users do.
A great place to get links and more exposure is to join in jewelry discussion forums. Ask questions, answer questions, talk about the unique beads or components that you use or an interesting technique. Forums are for sharing and discussing ideas or problems. This is not a place for you to give a “sales pitch”, if your comments sound like you are just trying to sell something then readers will most likely ignore it and probably not click on your link.
For example on my site I talk about the art of color and the symbolic meaning of colors. At the end of each article about the various colors I have an invitation for readers to share their stories or jewelry designs using that particular color. Here is an example, go to the bottom of the page for Meaning of Turquoise Color Symbolism and you will see various jewelry designers willing to share their jewelry pieces using the color turquoise. Feel free to join in!
Photo Galleries are also a great way to get an inbound link. If anytime you see a “Jewelry Photo Gallery” inviting you to share some of your designs, then DO IT! Its an open invitation for you to get involved and show off your work. Be sure to describe how you made the piece, what materials you used and what inspired you to make it. Also tell a little something about YOU, readers are always interested in getting to know the designer a little better.
Again, DO NOT write a sales pitch! Just interesting info about the piece. Your link will be your sales route. If you describe the piece well and what went into making it, then if people are interested in purchasing any of your work or want to see more of what you have to offer they will follow your link. Be descriptive as possible!

If you are a jewelry designer visit facebook pages from bead suppliers or “how to make jewelry” sites, introduce yourself, upload a photo of one of your jewelry pieces, list the components or beads used to make it, what inspired you to make it, and of course a link to your website, blog or your facebook page where they could see more of your work. Your photo and link will be seen by all their friends, and if any of those friends make a comment or “like” your photo, then all their friends will also see it. And if your piece or website is really unique or exciting, it will snowball from there.
