Beaded Bliss Necklace
by Terah Hernandez
The inspiration for this unique,bead-woven necklace came from the crystals that are showcased in the center of the necklace. The myriad of colors (aqua blues, refreshing greens, and velvety purples) that they reflect just took me in and wouldn't let me go! I decided to make individual brick stitch "settings" in which to showcase the crystals.
From there, the necklace just seemed to dictate to me which way it wanted to go! The asymmetrical framework is done in St. Petersburg chain with size 10 delicas. The design is slightly reminiscent of a paisley pattern. (The hand-crafted clasp is pure silver and hooks onto a matching, brick-stitched clasp.)
It's exhilarating to design and fashion wearable art! Inspiration comes from vibrant color, and tantalizing texture in just about anything from the intricacy found in plants, patterning of fabrics, art papers, and other textiles, but mostly the beads themselves. It all started when I was a tween with my mother at her favorite craft store. I found these tiny little vials filled with minuscule burst of color and light and was instantly enthralled. She bought me my first how-to book, and I was off!!! Over 20 years later, and I'm still learning & growing.terahsclassiccreations.blogspot.comterahclassycreations.etsy.com
