Jewelry Display Tip #1 Learn From Others
Before designing your jewelry display check out the competition. Discover why learning from other exhibitor's mistakes and successes will be an invaluable lesson in displaying your work to SELL.

To learn from others you must attend as many craft shows as possible as a customer, and try to learn from the mistakes, and the successes, of others. Browse through the different exhibits, looking closely at what is offered for sale. Examine all the booths, not only their display but also the products being sold. Compare quality, variety and price, paying particular attention to products that compete with your own. Analyze why some exhibitors are drawing crowds and cannot write receipts fast enough, while others sit despondent and ignored, barely earning enough to cover their booth fees. Take notes on how you could improve or add sparkle to poor displays, and what you did not like about those displays so that you do not make the same mistakes. Also take notes on successful displays and why they seem to attract the interest of customers, what is it that makes their booth stand out from the others. Look closely at the design and construction of different booths. What kind of materials do they use? How are they attached together? How do they use their display space effectively? How could you incorporate some of these ideas into your booth design? Talk to the exhibitors, ask them about the construction of their displays, are they easy to set up and take down, how about transporting them to and from shows? You'll get a lot of good advice and tips from seasoned show exhibitors. Remember, they too started from scratch, try to learn from their mistakes and from their advice.
