New Business
I'm stuck on creativity and designs for my jewelry

by Tonya Kaplish
(Ventura,Ca.)

I'm stuck on creativity and designs for my jewelry. Plus I am not sure how to be productive and have good quality and style.

I'm also having a fear of making up all my bead stash that i worked hard to collect over time. Where I'm going with this is I am scared to not be able to have enough product for my customers. I want my business to go far, and help support my family and have enough beads to keep the business going. I don't want to let myself down again.

Over the past couple of years, I went into business with my aunt. She never gave me my profit that I was entitled to. When I asked if She would send me my stuff back, she said it got stolen or broke. She refused to send me my jewelry back. I feel that she scammed me. But now that I am disabled, I can only do this. It is my passion as well. Please help? I feel like I'm going no where! :(

Positive not negative.
by: Trish Wilson

Hi,
First of all in order to get into a creative mood I would suggest you rid yourself of the anxiety you still carry from the dissappointment of your aunt not being straight with you.
Today is a brand new day with a miriad of possibilities! Take an hour browsing this brilliant, inspirational website. look at other peoples designs until you feel inspired enough to want to create your own beautiful work.
I Do this each morning whilst having my morning coffee, then I set to! I consistantly earn enough money from this wonderful hobby to pay all our household expenses.
Aint it just fabulous all round?
Good luck!

A quick way to get inspired...
by: Dee Dee

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I would suggest looking at fashion and beauty magazines to get some inspiration. I usually find some good ideas for color combinations, and you also stay on top of what kind of jewelry is in style for the season :)

I agree with comment above that you need to first release the stress and anxiety of the past and clear your mind. Also, do you have a particular style? If not, you need to figure that out as well.

I am new to the jewelry design world, and when I first started my business, I went through a style identity crisis. This put me in a creative rut for awhile. Even though I had ideas, I was having a had a hard time putting them together. Once I figured out "what is my style", I was able to focus my creativity on that particular look. I would browse fashion magazines, online photos, even pinterest for ideas. Also, using a color palette application like colourlovers.com, helped me to choose a color scheme for my pieces. Hope this helps and much luck to you!
