please I need help with design process, Im stuck

I would love to get some tips or exercises on how to think outside of the box. I have great ideas for brands and collections but am simply rubbish at designing something that uses the idea but 'out of the box'

For example I thought I would like to do some jewellery based on the language of flowers but I cant get past the boring idea of just a flower resting on a ring... boring boring!

Then I thought I would like to do one on insects ...but couldn't get past a sculpted insect on a ring or hanging from a pendant etc etc ..boring...

I looked at Steven Websters Jelly Fish ring and its just perfect... it doesn't look like a jellyfish but simply has the 'essence' of a jelly fish...

please help with any exercises that might open my mind when trying to design arrange ,

Thanks so much I would really appreciate it !
Lou

please I need help with design process NEW

When I get stuck with designs, I do an internet search and look at other peoples jewelry or something in the same line. So just off the top of my head I would ask these things:

What else says the same thing the flower does? If a flower means hope, what does that word conjure? A color? A rainbow, a cloud, a prayer? Can I translate those items to an idea? Usually, yes and then off I go. If not, more research. But I love research and the possibility of what if. Try a collage on a filigree finding, or use a frame for the background with the flower or charms embedded in resin. There are many ways to convey an idea. Just don't overthink the problem and inspiration will come.

thought process NEW

I loved your idea about the language of flowers. The first thing to pop into my mind was something like word association. So I did a quick search and here's an example of what I mean.

Baby's breath means innocence. So besides the literal associations with anything baby related (that's a given, right?) think of maybe a tween's birthday, like age 12. So twelve year old girls word association, pink, ribbons and bows, clothes, shoes, music, etc. Things like that. If you were making a bracelet to offer, you may include the name or initials using charms and still incorporate your flower. Include a little comment about the flower and its meaning with the bracelet. I think the recipient would be delighted that whoever gave it to her thought so much about HER. Even without the personalization it shows that some one read it and thought about the recipient.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!

There are many flowers, insects and fish in the Tibetan silver selection on Ebay. Add beads to necklaces or bracelets. Try charm bracelets.
