ROCKIN YOUR LOOK

by Gail Burns
(Phoenix, AZ)

I have always felt torn whenever I had to purchase dressy jewelry for a function or affair - invariably I found that I could only wear the piece/s I purchased for dressy events. To me it was such a waste of money that those pieces would be worn rarely so I wanted to create pieces that were versatile, something that anyone could wear dressed to the nines or... to shake up a casual evening outfit.

This necklace has vintage czech garnet faceted rondells, Swarvoski fire opals, Swarovski crystal gold plated spacers strung on 49 strand jewelers wire and finished with a vintage gold vermeil decorative clasp.

The opals have such fire along side the crystal spacers which kick it up for dressy affairs - but then you have the subdued garnet rondells that pull the look back when wearing casual or semi casual dress for a fun evening out.

It is of medium weight and is comfortable to wear - I have sold two similar to this one and my customers really seem to like wearing them.

I started making jewelry about 20 years ago, I had a love of Antiques and it expanded into buying vintage findings, beads and stones, they were just so gorgeous just looking at them gave me a zillion design ideas and before I knew it I started designing and making jewelry part-time.

I was a Loan Consultant for 16 years and many of my clients would purchase my jewelry, they would see a piece I was wearing, ask where I bought it and when they found out that I had made the piece - they would ask if I would make a piece for them.

I have been creating jewelry full time now for the past
four years and love every second of it. My jewelry has developed into an eclectic mix of vintage, vintage modern, urban, art deco, high end, etc. to appeal to different tastes and styles.

I am in the beginning stages of setting up a web store called Urban Jewelry.com in addition to: reddawnjewelrystudio.artfire.com

I have had stores on EBAY and ETSY over the last 7 years and I am now on Artfire.com which is a great showcase for Artisans.
